I was born and raised in Portugal, where I studied Environmental Science and completed a Master's in Tourism Management and Planning at the Universidade de Aveiro. The classroom gave me a way of looking at landscapes; the outdoors gave me the rest.
More than thirty years ago I crossed into Spain. I met my wife here, and life slowly rooted itself in the Sierra de Guadarrama — the ridges, the streams, the long silences between the pines. What began as study became something closer to belonging.
The Sierra isn't taught. It's walked.
What I offer now is a combination of science, lived experience, and a personal connection to this land. An invitation to walk it slowly, beyond the usual paths.
Up here the pace changes
Each route is shaped to the group and the day — by terrain, weather, and what you came looking for.
La Pedriza · Manzanares el Real
A slow traverse through one of the largest granite massifs in Europe — weathered boulders, hidden pools on the Manzanares river, and a quiet chapter in geological time.
Valsaín · Cercedilla
A gentle forest walk through the Scots pine woods of Valsaín and the Fuenfría valley. Ideal for first visits and for anyone who wants to read the forest, not just cross it.
Peñalara Massif · Puerto de Cotos
The highest summit of the range (2,428 m) and its glacial lagoons — Laguna Grande and Los Pájaros. A full mountain day for those ready to climb above the city's noise.
Also walked: Puerto de Cotos, the high meadows of Peñalara, the Siete Picos ridge from Navacerrada, Cabeza de Hierro, and quieter corners of Valsaín few visitors find. Routes are adapted to families, couples, solo travellers, small groups, and corporate or team-building days.
The Seasons
Green and flowing — meltwater, wild daffodils, swollen streams. The Sierra at its most generous.
Best lived early or late, high up where the air stays cool. The valleys belong to dawn and dusk.
Golden and clear. The light is honest, the paths are quiet, the temperatures are perfect.
Snow-covered and silent. Routes are chosen with care; the mountain asks for company.

Getting there
The Sierra is close to Madrid but rewards an early start. Parking fills quickly on weekends; meeting points are adapted to the chosen route and the day's conditions. The train from Madrid (C-8, C-9) is often the calmest way to arrive.
